It looks like the next version of this great tool has been released. It can be a little frustrating to configure but time and time again my pen tester associates say EMET is one of the top controls that stop them dead in their tracks. So spend the extra time and get this valuable tool setup in your enterprise.
Updates in 5.5 include Windows 10 compatibility, improved configuration with GPO, improved registry integration, performance improvements, and “support for untrusted fonts mitigation in Windows 10” (whatever that means).
For those not familiar with EMET, here is Microsoft’s description as well as links to how to install and use it.
The Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) benefits enterprises and all computer users by helping to protect against security threats and breaches that can disrupt businesses and daily lives. It does this by anticipating, diverting, terminating, blocking, or otherwise invalidating the most common actions and techniques adversaries might use to compromise a computer. In this way, EMET can help protect your computer systems even from new and undiscovered threats before they are formally addressed by security updates and anti-malware software.
