The Analyst, Info Security role is highly technical and requires knowledge of the technology, processes, and standards associated with information security. This position requires a basic degree of autonomy related to working with other teams within all AARP business units, applications and operations teams, vendors and external partners, and others. This position will require a limited degree of innovation and conceptualization of moving the domain forward in terms of its IT agility, value and alignment with the business goals and the architectural standards established by the Innovation group. Functional/Technical Responsibilities

  • Document, monitor and maintain information security standards, policies and protocol to ensure organizational data and resources, including email and cloud services, are protected from unauthorized and inappropriate use or access.
  • Perform the deployment, integration and initial configuration of all new security solutions and of any enhancements to existing security solutions.
  • Perform Third-Party Security Program (TSP) review procedures and analyze results to ensure that AARP information security standards and policies are understood and followed by third-party organizations providing services to AARP.
  • Perform security audits and test key areas of the organizational network and IT production infrastructure.
  • Enable the successful delivery of outsourced network security services such as managed IDS.
  • Assist in the execution of third-party security program and policies to ensure eligibility to receive and manage organizational information assets.
  • Provide support in coordinating with operational groups and business units to identify and implement measures to prevent or detect security incidents or breaches.
  • Perform incident response and investigation activities as needed or requested over security incidents and/or security breaches.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with information security policies and procedures.
  • Work in partnership with Technology Service Management colleagues and ITS Leaders on strategic initiatives related to information security to continuously improve policies, standards and procedures by anticipating issues, providing advice and sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Develop positive working relationships with other team members and business partners and partner across the ITS team to align with AARP internal and external client demands.


  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology,  Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
  •  Certification in Information Security (CISSP, ISC, or CISM) practices and policies.


3-5 years related experience in the following required competencies:

  • Network Management
  • ISC
  • CISM
  • Network Administration
  • Knowledge of information security regulations applicable to AARP organizations, i.e. HIPPA, PCI DSS, and various State Privacy Laws.
  • Knowledge of enterprise IT security concerns and technologies, including but not limited to VPNs, network security, encryption, authentication, application-level network protocols, PKI, IPSec, Firewall, SSH, SSL, DES, LAN/WAN, and TCP/IP.
