Security Consultant

Washington, DC

Company Name

MAD Security

Job Description

The first month is spent training on McAfee’s Security Incident and Event Manager (SIEM) and shadowing qualified professionals on engagements. Upon qualification after that first month, employee will then support clients that have SIEMs for engagements ranging from 4-days to 4-weeks (one to two week engagements comprise 90%+ of our work).  Following several months of exposure to the SIEM, there may be longer-term opportunities in the DC area. Travel: Up to 70%; must be extremely flexible and adventurous.  Our consultants see the world, and while ~85% of our engagements are in the US, we have supported organizations in Australia, South Korea, Germany, Bahrain, South Africa, Canada and the UK. Training: Full membership to The Hacker Academy, as well as access to McAfee’s Partner training for the entire McAfee suite of enterprise tools.  Likely training on other tools as well (e.g., RedSeal, Checkpoint).

  • Hands-on information security expertise. I don’t care about degrees or certifications necessarily…what can you DO?
  • A passion for security outside the workplace.  I’m looking for people who “do information security” for FUN as well as for a vocation.  So if you belong to clubs, groups, Reddit network/infosec chat rooms, etc…outside of work…this job may be for you.
  • Communications skills. You must be able to represent MAD Security directly to clients ranging from military organizations to Fortune 500 companies.  You also must have solid writing skills, as you will be drafting emails and status reports to the same clients.
  • Collaboration. Since you will be working on your own in many cases, it’s crucial that you are able to work collaboratively with your fellow consultants in a distributed environment (using Google Hangouts, distro lists, etc) to get your job done.
