After a year or so of inactivity the OWASP DC chapter is getting back into the swing of things. Starting the new year off right, their first meeting will be this coming Thursday on January 23rd featuring a panel titled “Tackling Your AppSec New Year’s Resolutions.” The panelist will include appsec luminaries and leaders such as Lee Aber (Director, Information Security at OPOWER), Kevin Greene (Software Assurance Program Manager at DHS S&T), Rich Ronston (Director, Security at Deltek) and Jack Mannino (CSO at nVisium & OWASP NoVA lead, moderating). For more details on this event please see their announcement on MeetUp.com
Going forward the DC OWASP chapter is set for a reboot in 2014 with renewed vigor and input from both veterans and new folks alike according to co-organizers Michael McCabe and Rinaldi Rampen. They are looking to build an atmosphere where members can easily share (& learn) the newest and best security ideas from thought leaders in the DC tech community. You’ll also find more interactive meetups in forms of panel discussions and Q&A sessions this year. Be sure to keep up with them over on their MeetUp group.
