Welcome to another edition of our Weekly Rewind – where we summarize all our posts from the last week. The top stories this week were 3) “Looking Ahead – CIKR Panel This Week at BSidesDC”, 2) “Live in DC Area, Have a Clearance & Wondering If You’re Underpaid?”, and 1) “Malware Analysis Slides from BSidesDC” If you missed anything or happened to be offline, we hope you find this summary post useful as a quick reference. A la Schneier … you can also use this rewind post to talk about the security stories in the news that we haven’t covered.
Looking Ahead – CIKR Panel This Week at BSidesDC: It’s finally here, this weekend – BSidesDC – and I am one of the “CIKR Panel” participants Sunday morning! As I was looking at the schedule, however, it occurred to me that many potential B-Sides attendees might not know what “CIKR” stood for (Critical Infrastructure & Key Resources – a bit of an outdated policy term), what “Critical Infrastructure” formally means in DC or in practice, or many of the other considerations that might help them get the most of our panel. And so, to help, I thought I’d write a brief guide to “CIKR” ahead of the panel for your enjoyment (heh) and education. (continued here)
Malware Analysis Slides from BSidesDC: This afternoon I had the honor of presenting an introduction to malware analysis talk at the innagural BSidesDC. Live in DC Area, Have a Clearance & Wondering if You’re Underpaid?: I’m a bit burned out on infographics these days but periodically I come across an interesting one. As an example, ClearanceJobs.com recently posted their graphic of “Cleared Cybersecurity Salary in DC.” Based on a survey that ended in January of this year, the infographic depicts pay for individuals at various clearance levels and positions in the metro DC area. Some of the points that stuck out to me included most taking home an average salary of $110K and those with IC clearances or in management topping out at around $135K. How do you rate? Let us know in the comments below. (continued here)
New Post-Exploitation Wiki Resource: Although normally blogging about hiking, NoVA-based Micah “@WebBreacher” Hoffman recently wrote about a great post-exploitation effort he’s been working on with Rob “@mubix” Fuller. It all started with an original post from Rob back in September 2011 and subsequent community involvement through shared Google Docs. At some point Micah volunteered to port the content over to a wiki hosted at PostExploitation.com so we as a community can more easily continue to grow this great pen testing resource. Thanks to Micah for allowing the repost.(continued here)
Hope everyone had a wonderful week. Have a great weekend!
