Surviving RSA & BSidesSF

Unfortunately, we won’t be going to RSA but we’ll be following it closely to see if anything interesting comes about. To start things off Bill Brenner put together a nice survival guide with four key points  for those attending.

  1. The vendor keynotes are not what they used to be. (Yeah, I can definitely see this. Vendors have one goal and one goal only – to sell more of whatever they make.)
  2. Don’t let the exhibit floor get to you. (I like his advice … plan ahead of who you want to see and make a beeline for those vendors before getting too distracted.)
  3. Spend quality time at BSidesSF. (Yep … well said. Hope everyone had a chance to attend…)
  4. It’s more about the networking. (I like his one example here – “If there’s an opportunity to have coffee with a fellow security practitioner at the same time a keynote is going on, go for the coffee.”)

Be sure to get all the details for each of the above suggestions over in Bill’s original blog post.
