ShmooCon Infosec Conference Event

Put your ear to the rail and you can hear it. Only very faintly but its there… The ShmooCon train is slowly approaching. At DefCon we got the dates… Then came the announcement of their CFP… And just recently the guys over at The Shmoo Group announced the dates tickets will be on sale.

Wow, can’t believe it is almost time again! Being that our site focuses on infosec in NoVA and the surrounding areas of DC and southern MD, this is one of the biggest conferences for us to cover. So I guess here is our official announcement with our traditional Who, What, Where, and When…

But before we get to that …. hopefully you are receiving this post in time for a few big deadlines on 11/1. There are two things to be aware of when planning your upcoming weekend.

First and most importantly is to be ready to grab tickets for the first round this coming Sunday at noon EST! As usually be on the site with credit card in hand and ready to purchase your tics. They usually go in about 5 minutes so act quickly.

Secondly, the first round of CFPs closes that same date. So for any of you outgoing infosecers out there, this is a great time to try to get some speaking action. And if you are the procrastinating type … you’ll still have to 11/20 for final submission.

Anyway, here are the rest of the details for this year’s conference:

  • Who: The Shmoo Group
  • What: ShmooCon
    • ShmooCon is an annual East coast hacker convention hell-bent on offering three days of an interesting atmosphere for demonstrating technology exploitation, inventive software & hardware solutions, and open discussions of critical infosec issues. The first day is a single track of speed talks, One Track Mind. The next two days, there are three tracks: Break It!, Build It!, and Bring It On!.
  • When: 2/5 – 2/7/2010
  • Where: Wardman Park Marriott (2660 Woodley Road NW, Washington, DC 20008)

For more information on ShmooCon, see its description in our Infosec Conferences section. Additionally, check out our Calendar for a list of similar infosec events in and around the NoVA area. And if you haven’t already figured it out … all the conference details can be found on the ShmooCon conference site. Also be sure to keep up to date by following them at @shmoocon on Twitter!
