With widely respected infosec professional Branko S. Bokan as the keynote speaker of this Tuesday’s ISSA – DC Chapter infosec meetup event, you can learn more about identity theft and why it’s not a ‘new’ problem. According to the ISSA – DC Chapter website “identity theft is not a modern crime. It has existed for centuries and its growth does not correlate to development of modern technologies and the Internet.”
ISSA – DC and Bokan feel that professionals being properly educated about identity theft is vital to keeping the growth of identity theft in the US and abroad in check. As the ISSA – DC site says in its synopsis of the meeting “[t]he aim of this presentation is to help security professionals to better understand identity theft, and to differentiate it from other related crimes.”
Identity theft is a hot topic right now, so it’ll be no surprise if this meeting has more attendees than usual. If you plan on attending this event, don’t forget to RSVP by sending an email to [email protected]. If you’d like to learn more about the meeting, keep reading below.
